Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has demanded the Department of State Services (DSS) immediately release abducted minor Walida Abdulhadi to her parents, citing a January 7th, 2026 court order. The Kano State Chairman of MURIC, Malam Hassan Sani Indabawa, stated the minor is currently in DSS protective custody in Abuja. Indabawa urged DSS to comply with the court's directive to reunite the victim with her family while also calling for the arrest and prosecution of the DSS officer allegedly responsible for the abduction. Under Nigerian law, anyone under 18 is a minor, and the Child Rights Act specifies a 10-year sentence for abducting a child from lawful custody and life imprisonment for sexual relations with a minor. MURIC emphasized the DSS must respect judicial authority and hand the alleged perpetrator to police for legal action.
