Ecobank Customers Report Service Disruptions Amid Trust Concerns
Customers are experiencing significant service disruptions with Ecobank Nigeria, including delayed transactions, failed transfers, and poor customer service responses. Commercial expert Nasiru Abba suggests the issues likely stem from internal network problems rather than external factors like NIBSS. 'It may likely be that their network system is downgraded and needs to be upgraded to a more current mechanism,' he said.
The disruptions have triggered widespread complaints on X, with customers like Olugueemaka reporting 24+ hour delays in transaction reversals and Rita Yava experiencing failed transactions without refunds. Some customers like Veronica Musa have already stopped using the bank due to unreliable transaction alerts. Other issues include failed transfers to savings platforms and unanswered WhatsApp messages for weeks.
If issues persist, Abba warns customers may redirect deposits to other banks, and negative experiences shared on social media could deter potential customers. As of press time, Ecobank had not issued an official statement but responded to some complaints asking customers to send direct messages for assistance.
