EFCC promises whistleblowers 2.5-5% cut of recovered loot nationwide
EFCC Chairman Olu Olukoyede announced that whistleblowers who provide credible and actionable information leading to the recovery of stolen Nigerian assets will receive between 2.5% and 5% of the recovered loot as an incentive. He also assured whistleblowers of adequate protection against retaliation for coming forward. He said the incentive was put in place to encourage people to come forward and give information about stolen assets, emphasizing that a credible and actionable source of intelligence is required to qualify for the reward.
The incentive scheme is designed to encourage more people to report information about looted funds, whether hidden domestically or overseas, thereby strengthening the commission’s anti‑corruption efforts. By offering a share of the recovered assets, the EFCC hopes to expand its network of informants and increase the volume of loot traced and reclaimed.
Individuals possessing verifiable details about stolen assets can approach the EFCC with their information. The reward will be paid only after the loot is successfully recovered, and the whistleblower's identity will be safeguarded throughout the process.
