Egypt winger Mahmoud Hassan 'Trezeguet' has declared the Pharaohs ready for victory in the AFCON 2025 third-place match against Nigeria's Super Eagles. The clash is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2026, at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, Morocco. This follows Egypt's 1-0 semi-final loss to Senegal, shifting their focus to securing a podium finish.

Trezeguet praised Nigeria's team but emphasized Egypt's determination to win. "Nigeria has a good team with great players but we are fully focused on winning and finishing the AFCON with a positive result," he stated. The comments come as Egypt's coach, Hossam Hassan, has also expressed motivation to defeat the Super Eagles. Notably, Egypt defeated Nigeria 1-0 in a friendly match just before the tournament began, adding a layer of rivalry to the encounter.

For the Super Eagles, under coach Éric Chelle, this match is a chance to salvage pride after missing out on the final. Chelle has vowed his team must secure third place and is already planning a squad overhaul. While disappointed to be in the third-place match, the team will be motivated by the recent €10,000 bonus each player received for reaching the semi-finals, despite losing to Morocco.

Will Egypt's pre-tournament confidence translate into a trophy-winning performance, or will the Super Eagles use this as a platform to rebuild momentum for future competitions?
