News Emir Sanusi hosts Iftar, holds meeting with Gov Yusuf’s delegation Published on March 18, 2026 By Vanessa Onah The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, Tuesday, hosted senior government officials for Iftar at his palace, followed by a private meeting with a delegation representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The meeting, held at the Gidan Rumfa palace, was confirmed in a Facebook post on Wednesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. “Shortly after the Iftar at the Emir’s Palace, the Governor’s delegation had a closed-door meeting with His Highness,” Dawakin Tofa stated. Members of the delegation included the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim; the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Sulaiman Wali Sani; and Dawakin Tofa. The meeting is believed to be connected to the ongoing Emirship dispute following the reinstatement of Sanusi II by Governor Yusuf in 2024, a decision still being challenged in court by Aminu Ado Bayero.
