A new Global Burden of Disease Study reveals African nations face the world's fastest-growing breast cancer burdens, with Equatorial Guinea experiencing a 312% increase in new cases since 1990. Nigeria shows staggering growth too: 53,500 new cases in 2023 (542.9% increase) and 26,200 deaths (408.3% increase). The study links 28% of global cases to modifiable factors like smoking, obesity, and high red meat consumption. Lead author Lisa Force urges coordinated global action for early diagnosis and universal health coverage to reduce catastrophic costs.
