Ex-APC aspirant Adamu Garba quits politics to focus on tech business

Former APC presidential aspirant Adamu Garba announced on Tuesday that he is stepping back from active politics to focus on his technology business. Garba said he will devote his full attention to his role as Executive Chairman of IPI Group Limited and Chief Platform Architect of the group and its subsidiaries, citing the need for his personal involvement and technical expertise. He made the announcement in a statement shared on his X handle, thanking supporters, party leaders and associates for their backing over the past nine years.

Garba explained that combining extensive political activities with his business responsibilities would cause one to suffer, so he chose to give exclusive attention to developing their AI-First enterprise and using technology to strengthen community and society for the greater good. He first declared his ambition to contest the 2019 presidential election under the APC, campaigning on structural reforms, youth participation and national integration. He remained an APC presidential aspirant ahead of the 2023 general elections but withdrew from the party’s presidential contest in 2022, citing the high cost of obtaining the expression‑of‑interest and nomination forms—priced at ₦100 million—which he argued could commercialise politics and deter young, less financially endowed Nigerians from participating.
