FAANlaunches multi-sectoral cargo task force to improve airport operations
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has established a multi-sectoral task force to enhance coordination across the cargo value chain at its airports. The initiative, led by FAAN's Directorate of Cargo Development and Services, involves representatives from finance, legal services, commercial operations, aviation security, airport operations and the cargo directorate. The task force aims to develop harmonized Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cargo handling by reviewing existing procedures from warehouse operators, terminal operators and ground handling companies. Draft SOPs are currently being reviewed by ground handling companies before internal FAAN review. FAAN is also developing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with government agencies and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with airlines to define roles and operational expectations. The initiative forms part of FAAN's broader efforts to strengthen cargo operations within its airport network.
