Fayose forecasts Tinubu victory over Atiku, Obi in 2027 poll
Former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose told Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu will defeat ADC’s Atiku Abubakar and NDC’s Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election. Fayose compared the situation to former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s failed third‑term bid, saying an "unwritten constitution" within Nigerian politics prevents such attempts. He argued that Tinubu’s advantage in the Southwest will deliver a margin of at least five or six million votes, questioning where Obi and Atiku would get support in Ekiti, Osun and Ondo states. The comment came as political jockeying intensifies ahead of the 2027 race, with figures like Nyesom Wike and the Oba of Benin also voicing opinions on Tinubu’s tenure. Fayose’s forecast highlights the perceived electoral strength of the ruling APC in the Southwest and raises questions about the opposition’s ability to build a credible structure there. Voters may want to monitor how party structures develop in those states and whether new alliances emerge before the election.
