Fayose predicts Tinubu easy win as opposition splits
Former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose says President Tinubu faces no real opposition in 2027 despite security challenges across Nigeria. Fayose told Channels TV that the fragmented opposition with multiple candidates (Atiku ADC, Peter Obi NDC, Makinde APM, Sowore, others) has destroyed their own chances of defeating Tinubu. 'Nobody is contesting against Tinubu,' Fayose stated, contrasting reality with social media noise. He noted that unlike the 2023 three-horse race, the opposition's split into multiple parties gives Tinubu a clear advantage. Fayose emphasized that had the opposition remained united, they would have posed a serious challenge to Tinubu. The statement comes as Nigerians continue to face security concerns in Oyo State, Kwara, and other Northern regions, alongside economic hardship that typically influences electoral outcomes. Southwest voters, who had expected a competitive race, may find their votes less impactful if the opposition remains divided.
