Fear, money kept many Nigerians home for Eid - MPAC
Many Nigerians missed Eid travel this year due to insecurity fears and financial pressure, according to Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC). The organization called on leaders worldwide to address rising insecurity, economic hardship, and global injustice as Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Adha 1447 AH.
MPAC noted that ordinary Nigerians live under increasing fear of kidnapping, banditry and violence, with many families unable to travel for celebrations. The group urged authorities to prioritize policies that restore security and improve economic conditions.
The statement, signed by MPAC Executive Chairman Disu Kamor, also condemned the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, describing it as 'a painful stain on the conscience of the modern world.' Thousands of innocent Palestinians continue suffering under violence and occupation, with 'yet another Eid under siege' for the people of Palestine.
Despite challenges, MPAC emphasized Eid remains a message of hope and perseverance, urging Muslims to promote stronger families, compassionate communities, and responsible leadership beyond symbolic sacrifice.
