Federal Government has disbursed ₦38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions nationwide under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund, targeting critical infrastructure gaps and teaching facilities. The fund covers 79 universities (₦28.5 billion), 46 polytechnics (₦5.8 billion), and 41 colleges of education (₦4.7 billion), according to a Sunday statement from the Finance Ministry in Abuja.

The intervention also supports implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between FG and ASUU, addressing long-standing demands for improved university infrastructure. Ministry spokesperson Efe Ovuakporie emphasized that effective coordination among agencies and institutions is essential to ensure funds translate into tangible improvements.

Beneficiary institutions can now commence or continue approved projects addressing identified needs. Members of the public seeking specific allocations per institution should visit finance.gov.ng for the full breakdown.

With ASUU strikes historically triggered by infrastructure deficits, will this targeted funding finally break the cycle of industrial action, or will implementation bottlenecks delay the impact students and staff desperately need?
