FG: No Distress Calls From Nigerians in Iran Amid Middle East Crisis
Nigerians in Iran have not contacted the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) for assistance despite the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States/Israel, according to NiDCOM's Director of Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun. While acknowledging Nigerians may be present in Iran, Balogun clarified no official distress calls have been received. Flight cancellations to the region are attributed to active hostilities, with no airline operating in war zones. NiDCOM is monitoring the situation alongside the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, though no evacuation has occurred yet. This follows reports of 67 Iranian operations on US bases in 48 hours and US warnings for Americans to leave 14 countries.
