The Federal Government announced that all federal unity colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026. Minister of Education Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa said the directive follows preparations to ensure the safe return of students and staff, with relevant security agencies informed and ordered to maintain heightened vigilance around the colleges and their surroundings.

The resumption affects thousands of students, teaching and non‑teaching staff across the country, marking the start of the new academic session after the break. Alausa stressed that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning. He urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information, and prepare their children to return to their respective colleges on Monday. School authorities were directed to work closely with security agencies and other relevant bodies to ensure an orderly resumption.

The ministry said it will continue to monitor developments and coordinate with authorities to make sure the reopening proceeds as planned. Students, parents, teachers and administrators are asked to help maintain a peaceful and secure environment in the colleges.
