Federal Government has released complete activities for the 2026 Democracy Day observance on June 12, with SGF George Akume describing it as a solemn occasion to reflect on sacrifices for democratic rule.

The approved activities include: World Press Conference on Thursday, June 4; Special Juma'at Prayers on Friday, June 5; Inter-denominational Church Service on Sunday, June 7; Democracy Day Public Lecture on Tuesday, June 9; Youth and Women-Oriented Programmes on Wednesday, June 10; Presidential Broadcast on Friday, June 12; and Democracy Day Gala Night also on Friday, June 12.

According to Akume, the day offers special tribute to heroes of the June 12, 1993 struggle and late Chief MKO Abiola, while showcasing government achievements in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing national development.

With multiple events spanning the week leading up to June 12, which commemorative activity will you participate in or follow?
