FG's domestic debt hits N77.81 trillion in Q3 2025
Nigeria's domestic debt surged to N77.81 trillion as of September 2025, up from N1.707 trillion in Q2 2025, according to the Debt Management Office (DMO). Federal Government Bonds dominate at N61.9 trillion (80% of total), followed by Treasury Bills at N12.68 trillion (16.3%). The composition reflects the government's strategy of blending long-term bonds for stable funding with short-term bills for liquidity management. This marks the first Q3 2025 data release since Nairametrics questioned the DMO's delayed disclosure, providing updated insight into Nigeria's borrowing structure ahead of year-end financial modeling.
