Flutterwave has named Morounke Olufemi as its Global Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Mitesh Popat who left the role earlier this year. Olufemi, formerly Group CFO at Access Holdings Plc, joined Flutterwave in June 2025 as CFO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa before this promotion. The announcement came via a statement seen by Nairametrics and underscores the fintech's effort to bolster its financial leadership amid continued expansion.

Olufemi brings over 24 years of finance, banking, strategy and corporate leadership experience, including raising $300 million in Additional Tier 1 capital for Access Holdings in 2023 and leading a rights issuance in 2024 to meet CBN recapitalisation rules. She also helped create Nigeria's second‑largest Pension Fund Administrator through M&A deals. At Flutterwave she has overseen financial operations across more than 30 EMEA countries and worked closely with the outgoing CFO to execute the company's strategy.

The leadership change coincides with strong business performance: Flutterwave reported processing over one billion transactions and facilitating more than $40 billion in total payment value since inception, with wallet‑based collections up 289% and bank‑transfer values up 184% year‑on‑year. Olufemi says the focus will remain on capital discipline, margin growth and sustainable profitability as the firm scales its financial services globally.

For professionals tracking Nigeria's fintech scene, does this signal deeper integration of traditional banking expertise into Africa's leading payment platform, and how might it affect future product pricing or partnership opportunities?
