Former aide alleges security agencies plot to doctor El-Rufai's detention recordings
Former APC national publicity secretary Timi Frank alleges ICPC and DSS are secretly recording El-Rufai's conversations in detention and plan to use AI to distort recordings to frame the former governor. Frank claims El-Rufai faces "intense surveillance" with his room bugged, capturing countless hours of talks with lawyers and family members.
According to the allegations, security operatives are reviewing recordings "to select those that can best be doctored" before leaking manipulated versions to the press. Frank states the plot aims "to destroy El-Rufai, tarnish his reputation and keep him in custody" despite his being granted bail on corruption and national security charges.
El-Rufai has remained in ICPC custody since separate arraignments by ICPC and EFCC. If these allegations prove true, the incident would raise serious questions about due process and the potential misuse of surveillance technology in politically sensitive cases.
