Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) achieved remarkable 27% reduction in road traffic crashes during 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations compared to 2025. Crashes decreased from 191 to 142, while crash victims dropped by 22% from 1,364 to 1,064 people. Injuries also fell by 25.4%, from 576 to 430 persons.

The Corps Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri described this as one of FRSC's most significant operational achievements in recent years. "These impressive gains represent hundreds of lives protected and families spared the devastating consequences of road traffic crashes," he stated.

The reduction came through strategic deployment of personnel, round-the-clock patrols, intelligence-driven surveillance, motorised chain-patrol operations, prompt rescue interventions, and sustained public education campaigns across critical corridors nationwide. FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the dedication of personnel and urged road users to maintain safety culture beyond festive periods, stressing that road safety remains a shared responsibility.
