Fulham are working on a new long-term contract for Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey, DAILY POST reports. Bassey has one year left on his current deal, but the club can also trigger a one‑year option that would keep him at Craven Cottage until summer 2028. According to TEAMtalk, Fulham plan to offer him a fresh contract to secure his future at the club.

The 26‑year‑old joined Fulham from Ajax in July 2023 and has since made 105 appearances across all competitions. He won Fulham’s Player of the Season award for 2024/25 and has started every Premier League game this season under new manager Álvaro Arbeloa. Widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, Bassey’s contract talks come as he enters the prime of his career.

For Nigerian supporters, the outcome could influence his availability for Super Eagles duty and signal how highly European clubs rate Nigerian talent. Will a long‑term Fulham deal strengthen Bassey’s case for a regular spot in the national team, or should fans keep an eye on other rising defenders vying for those spots?
