Funke Akindele's 'Behind the Scenes' hits ₦1.77bn, tops box office again
Funke Akindele's latest film, 'Behind the Scenes,' has grossed ₦1.77 billion, emerging as the number one film of the weekend. FilmOne Entertainment made the announcement on Instagram, thanking audiences for their support. The film previously crossed ₦1 billion in 19 days, making it the fastest Nollywood movie to achieve that milestone.
The success defies complaints from some producers about poor cinema treatment during December, when they alleged boycotts and limited showings for films like 'Behind the Scenes.' Despite these distribution tensions, strong audience demand drove the film to one of Nollywood's strongest box office runs ever.
This solidifies Akindele's dominance in the industry. She holds the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood film with 'Everybody Loves Jenifa' at ₦1.88 billion. She also owns four of the top five highest-grossing Nollywood films, including 'Omo Ghetto: The Saga,' 'Battle on Buka Street,' and 'A Tribe Called Judah.' 'Behind the Scenes' continues to show in cinemas nationwide.
