The Senate of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, has formally rejected claims by the Niger State Government regarding the ownership of the institution’s Bosso Campus. Following a meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the Senate passed a vote of confidence in Vice-Chancellor Professor Faruk Kuta while simultaneously passing a vote of no confidence in Pro-Chancellor Mohammed Kudu-Santuraki, accusing him of failing to protect the university's interests.

The dispute centers on whether the land was a temporary lease or a permanent 1983 Federal Government acquisition. The Senate resolved that the campus will neither be ceded to the state nor shared with the College of Medical Sciences of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai. This decision directly opposes the state government's plan to use the facility for its own medical students.

Adding to the tension, a group called the Concern Nigerlites Forum held a peaceful protest at the Bosso Campus earlier this week. They are calling for the Vice-Chancellor’s sack, alleging he is sabotaging the state government by instigating ASUU and student unions against the Governor. The group advocates for facility-sharing to ensure IBBU medical students can continue their studies.\n\nThis standoff creates significant uncertainty for students and staff at the Bosso Campus. If you are a student or faculty member at FUTMinna or IBBU, how should the administration balance federal institutional land rights against the state's urgent need for medical training facilities?
