Ghana's UN peacekeeping battalion in Lebanon suffered two missile strikes on Friday, critically injuring two soldiers and traumatizing one. The attack destroyed the Officers' Mess facility at the UNIFIL headquarters in southern Lebanon, where Ghanaian troops monitor the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire. This follows Lebanon's entry into the Middle East conflict on Monday when Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel, escalating regional strikes between Israel and Iran's proxy Hezbollah. Ghana, a 1978 UNIFIL contributor, condemned the attack as a war crime and demanded an immediate, impartial investigation. The country also urged the UN to enhance safety measures for all peacekeeping personnel. Meanwhile, Lebanon reports 217 killed and 798 wounded from ongoing strikes.
