Google has announced that the monthly subscription for its Google One Standard plan, which provides 200 GB of storage shared across Drive, Gmail and Photos, will rise from ₦2,900 to ₦4,400 starting 22 September 2026—a increase of about 51.7 percent. The company said the change applies to all customers in Nigeria and several other markets, and that existing storage capacity and benefits will remain unchanged; subscribers will be automatically charged the new rate at their next billing date unless they cancel.

The hike adds to growing complaints about the cost of digital services in Nigeria, where telecom data and airtime prices have also climbed. For many users, Google One is a convenient way to back up photos, emails and documents, so the price jump could force a reassessment of their storage needs and budget.

Other Google One tiers remain available: Lite at ₦1,300 for 30 GB, Basic at ₦2,950 for 100 GB, Google AI Plus at ₦7,700 for 400 GB, AI Pro at ₦28,500 for 5 TB and AI Ultra at ₦89,000 for 20 TB. Users can avoid the higher charge by cancelling before renewal or switching to a lower‑tier plan that still meets their requirements.

Will you keep the 200 GB plan at ₦4,400, downgrade to a cheaper tier, or explore alternative cloud‑storage services?
