Google’s Daily Brief AI Assistant: What Nigerians Need to Know

Google’s Daily Brief is a new agent inside the Gemini app that automatically creates a morning briefing by scanning your Gmail, Google Calendar and past Gemini chats. It surfaces timely actions like replying to an email or preparing for a meeting, and a longer‑term “Looking ahead” section with suggested next steps. Users can mark items complete, dismiss them, ask follow‑up questions or rate them helpful, which trains the AI for future briefs. To use it you need a personal Google account, a paid Google AI subscription (Plus, Pro or Ultra), and you must be located in the United States; work, school or child accounts are not supported, and the feature has not yet rolled out beyond the US.

For Nigerians, this means the tool is currently unavailable even if you subscribe to a paid Gemini plan, because the geo‑restriction blocks access. The feature’s usefulness depends on how tidy your Gmail and Calendar are, and it only works with Google services—Outlook, Apple Calendar or third‑party task apps are ignored. If you meet the US‑only, paid‑account criteria, you enable it via Settings → Personal Intelligence, turn on Connected apps (Gmail, Calendar) and Memory, then switch on Daily Brief; the first brief appears the next morning automatically.

Until a wider release, consider whether you’d trust an AI to prioritize your inbox and calendar, or prefer to keep manual control over your daily priorities.
