The new law provides for monthly allocations of N250,000 to each of the 287 political wards in Jigawa State to support grassroots development projects and improve service delivery at the local level. The committees will include religious leaders, community leaders, civil society representatives and political leaders. The governor said the fund would provide dedicated resources for all polling units across the 27 local government areas of the state, enabling communities to identify and execute micro-projects based on their most pressing needs. The bill was earlier passed by the Jigawa State House of Assembly following the presentation of the report of its Committee on Local Government.
