Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, ADC presidential aspirant, announced Monday he won't challenge the May 25, 2026 party primary outcome in court despite previously raising concerns about widespread vote manipulation. The former presidential hopeful made the decision after consultations, stating Nigeria urgently needs a strong, credible and united opposition that must remain larger than individual ambition.

Before the May 26 results announcement, Hayatu-Deen had publicly distanced himself from the collation process, citing reports of vote rigging across the country. "I am concerned by reports of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed," he had questioned. However, in his latest statement, he acknowledged the outcome didn't meet his expectations but said he had communicated concerns about "certain processes and procedural matters" directly to party leadership.

Hayatu-Deen emphasized that any party aspiring to govern Nigeria must demonstrate democratic integrity within its own ranks. He thanked supporters for their commitment throughout the contest and urged Nigerians not to abandon hope for a better future. His decision comes as ADC strengthens its position ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the party attempting to project unity despite internal challenges.
