Bukola Idowu, Executive Director of Kimpact Development Initiative, has condemned the N10 billion presidential campaign spending limit, calling it corrupt and unjustifiable. Speaking on Arise News, Idowu argued the amount exceeds the President's four-year salary, stating: 'The president in four years does not earn up to N10 billion as his salary.' He challenged the National Assembly's allocation, questioning the data behind the 3 billion per governor figure: 'Kano has 44 local governments. Bayelsa has eight. Campaigning in Bayelsa with 3 billion is different from Lagos. What data supports this?' Idowu insisted the decision lacks statistical backing and legal basis, making elections purely commercial. He reiterated his presentation to lawmakers: 'Their decision is not backed by fact, statistics, or data.' The controversy highlights concerns about election financing transparency in Nigeria.
