Iheanacho breaks own record with 12th straight goal as Bursaspor win
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored in his 12th consecutive Turkish 1. Lig match Sunday, breaking his own record for the longest scoring streak in Turkish football. The goal came in the 50th minute at Aktepe Stadium, putting Bursaspor ahead 3-2 en route to a 4-2 win over Keçiörengücü.
Iheanacho now has 16 goals in just 12 appearances since joining the second-division side. His previous best was 11 straight games with a goal, also set at Bursaspor. The former Leicester City and Celtic forward has been virtually unstoppable since his move, averaging more than a goal per game.
Bursaspor sit in the promotion hunt, and Iheanacho's form is the primary engine. The Nigerian has scored in every league match this season, turning draws into wins and deficits into leads. His consistency is rare even for top-flight strikers, let alone in a competitive second tier.
For Super Eagles watchers, this is the sharpest Iheanacho has looked in years. Regular minutes and a system built around his strengths have revived a career that stalled at Leicester. If he maintains this trajectory into the international window, he forces his way back into the national team conversation.
Can a striker dominating Turkey's second division translate that form to Africa's biggest stage, or is this a purple patch that fades against better defences?
