INEC has extended the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by two weeks, moving the deadline from Friday, July 10, 2026 to Friday, July 24, 2026, and will launch a fully online self‑service registration portal for first‑time voters starting Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The extension follows a review of the exercise and feedback from INEC state offices, political parties, civil society groups and other stakeholders, aiming to give more eligible Nigerians a fair chance to be included in the Register of Voters ahead of future elections. The new online platform, accessible at cvr.inecnigeria.org, allows applicants to complete their registration, including biometric capture, using personal devices from anywhere without visiting an INEC office, while incorporating identity verification and backend checks to safeguard the integrity of the voters’ register. INEC urged all unregistered eligible citizens to take advantage of both the extended period and the digital option, emphasizing its commitment to a credible, inclusive and accessible voter registration process that leverages technology to improve citizens’ experience. If you’re eligible and unregistered, will you use the online portal starting July 8 or visit an INEC office before the July 24 deadline?
