INEC presents certificates of return to winners of six-state by-elections

INEC presented certificates of return to the winners of by‑elections held across six states on Saturday. The elections were for senatorial offices in Enugu, Nasarawa North, Ondo South, and Rivers South‑East; the Dawakin kudu/Warsaw federal constituency in Kano State; and the Zuru State constituency in Kebbi State. Supervising National Commissioner May Agbamuche‑Mbu, representing INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan, oversaw the presentation and congratulated the winners, urging them to serve their constituents diligently and saying their most important responsibility is to represent the people well. National commissioners for each constituency took turns handing over the certificates, formally recognizing the duly elected candidates. Agbamuche‑Mbu also said that INEC will present the certificate of return for the Ekiti State governor‑elect at the INEC office in Ado‑Ekiti and the Zuru State constituency certificate at the state capital, Birnin Kebbi. This formal certification clears the way for the winners to assume office and be held accountable by their voters.
