INEC registers 2.4m voters; Kano tops, youth lead, portal open till July 24

INEC announced that 2,436,275 Nigerians completed Continuous Voter Registration by July 10, 2026, with 823,324 registering online and 1,612,951 at centres. Kano State led with 182,749 registrations, followed by Edo (121,554) and Lagos (114,983). Women made up 52.65% of new voters, while youths aged 18‑34 accounted for 69% (1,682,962).

The surge boosts the electorate ahead of the 2027 general elections, increasing youth and female representation. INEC also processed 252,911 transfer requests, 91,830 PVC replacements and 50,091 data corrections, and introduced an online self‑service portal for first‑time voters after extending the CVR deadline to July 24, 2026.

Eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered or need to update their details can do so before July 24 via the INEC portal or at any registration centre.
