INEC Sets Today July 26 as Final Day for Continuous Voter Registration Nationwide
INEC has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends today, Sunday, July 26, 2026, urging eligible Nigerians to register or update their voter records before the deadline closes. The commission said the exercise covers new registrations, voter transfers, correction of personal details and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Registrations can be completed online via the INEC portal or in person at any state or local government office nationwide.
The closure marks the end of a phased enrollment drive that began in August 2025 with online pre‑registration, followed by physical registration from August 25 to December 2025, which recorded 2,572,054 completions. A second phase from January 5 to April 17, 2026 added another 3,748,704 registrations, and a third phase launched in May was extended by two weeks in July to allow more citizens to participate.
With the deadline reached, INEC stresses that voter registration remains a prerequisite for voting in the 2027 general elections. Prospective voters are advised not to delay; visit the INEC portal or the nearest INEC office now to ensure their details are captured and they can participate in next year’s polls.
