Iran executes spy for Israel in first such case since war with US

Iran executed Kouroush Keyvani, a convicted spy for Israel's Mossad, on Wednesday. Keyvani provided intelligence about Iran's sensitive locations to Mossad agents during the country's 12-day war with Israel and the US in June 2025. He received training in six European countries and Tel Aviv before his arrest. The execution marks the first such case announced since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in February 2026, killing Ayatollah Khamenei and triggering a wider Middle East conflict. Keyvani's death sentence was carried out this morning, according to Iran's judiciary Mizan Online website.
