Iran launches missile attack on Tel Aviv after Larijani assassination
Iran launched missile strikes on Tel Aviv overnight Tuesday, targeting residential neighborhoods near military facilities. The attack, described as retaliation for Israel's assassination of Iran's security chief Ali Larijani, killed two people and raised Israel's conflict death toll to at least 14. Iranian state media reported the strikes using Khorramshahr 4 and Qadr missiles capable of carrying multiple warheads. Cluster warheads pose significant civilian risks as they disperse explosives mid-air. Iran also reported a projectile landed near Bushehr nuclear plant without damage. The conflict escalated after Israel confirmed Larijani's killing, along with his deputy Alireza Bayat. Iran's new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei rejected ceasefire talks, demanding US and Israel accept defeat and pay compensation. The attacks spread to Lebanon with Israeli airstrikes in Beirut.
