Israel deploysadditional troops to southern Lebanon

Israel has deployed additional ground troops into southern Lebanon in a tactical move to prevent attacks by Iran-backed Hezbollah militia. Israeli military spokesman Nadav Shoshani stated this is not an offensive but a measure to counter potential escalation. Troops have moved to new positions overlooking Israeli towns, replacing five previous posts. Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the deployment was authorized by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The move follows heightened tensions after a U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iran, which killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and prompted Tehran's missile strikes on U.S. bases. This deployment aims to secure Israeli border communities against possible cross-border infiltrations or shelling.
