Israel has delivered the first batch of ambulances, medical equipment, and wheelchairs to Nigeria at the Port of Ashdod. The donation, made by Israel’s national emergency medical service Magen David Adom on behalf of the Israeli Government, was received by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel, Nkechi Ufochukwu. She said the consignment will significantly strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare delivery and improve emergency response capacity, especially in underserved communities.

The shipment includes fully equipped ambulances, modern medical devices, and mobility aids such as wheelchairs. These items are expected to be deployed to hospitals and emergency centers across the country to support patient care and disaster response efforts. Ambassador Ufochukwu noted the gift reflects the growing partnership between Nigeria and Israel in health, humanitarian aid, and technology transfer, and underscores Israel’s commitment to helping Nigeria achieve universal health coverage and build a more resilient health system.

The event was attended by officials of Magen David Adom, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Health, and members of the Nigerian Embassy in Tel Aviv. No specific timeline for distribution or the exact number of units provided was disclosed in the report.

With more ambulances and medical devices on the way, how do you think this will affect emergency response times and access to care in your local community?
