Israel imposes emergency security measures after Iran missile strikes
Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency Saturday after Iran launched missiles toward its territory, following a joint US-Israeli strike on Iranian targets. Defence Minister Israel Katz warned of possible missile and drone attacks, banning public gatherings, closing schools and workplaces, and relocating hospital patients to underground facilities. The military mobilised tens of thousands of reservists and instructed residents to avoid non-essential travel. Despite heightened alert, some Israelis expressed confidence in air defence systems. The escalation follows Iranian retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Tehran and other Iranian sites, recalling last year's 12-day conflict. Israel closed airspace to civilian flights but kept land crossings with Egypt and Jordan open.
