Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has publicly apologised for his red card in Nigeria's 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan on March 31. The Fulham star was sent off after retaliating when Jordan's Amer Jamous held him back during the match in Turkey.

'I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough,' Iwobi said on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast. He called the incident a 'mistake' but noted Nigeria avoided defeat.

The apology coincides with coach 'Chelle' including Iwobi in a 24-man squad for upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan, signalling the coaching staff still trusts the experienced midfielder despite the dismissal. This raises questions about accountability and whether on-field discipline will improve ahead of critical competitive fixtures.

For Nigerian fans, this highlights the balance between player development and team discipline. While friendlies allow experimentation, repeated disciplinary issues could hurt cohesion when results matter most.
