Former Minister Edem dismissed suggestions former President Goodluck Jonathan could return to active politics for 2027, calling such moves 'misguided.' Speaking on Arise TV Wednesday, Duke argued Jonathan's tenure remains 'one of the defining periods in Nigeria's democratic history' and warned against using his reputation 'as a pawn on the political dashboard.'

Duke expressed concern over reports linking Jonathan to a presidential comeback, saying Jonathan understands the implications and is unlikely to risk his statesman standing. 'What he stands to gain as a former president is far beyond risking another four years of aspiration,' Duke stated, emphasizing Jonathan's influence extends beyond electoral politics across Africa.

This comes amid ongoing political positioning for 2027, with several PDP figures reportedly backing Jonathan's potential candidacy. With 16 months to the election, the former president's decision could significantly reshape Nigeria's political landscape.
