In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party said it successfully submitted the names on July 10, a full four days before the deadline, and that the process followed INEC’s guidelines. The party called the reports ‘unequivocally false, misleading, and based on idle beer‑parlour gossip,’ and urged members, supporters and the public to disregard the story, which it said originated from an anonymous INEC official. It added that once INEC publishes the final list of validly nominated candidates, Nigerians will see the Labour Party’s names and the misinformation will be cleared. The denial comes as parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the nomination stage now closed and the commission set to release the validated candidate list. With the official list pending, voters may want to verify candidate details directly from INEC when released, rather than relying on party statements or unverified reports, to make informed voting decisions.
