Labour Party Postpones Congresses, Convention
Labour Party postpones its congresses and national convention from March 26 to April 11, 2026, to allow more time for membership re-registration. The decision follows a stakeholders' meeting involving the party's Interim NWC and labour unions. Ward congresses originally scheduled for March 26 will now occur later, with local government congresses on March 28, state congresses on March 31, and the national convention on April 11. The party has also inaugurated a 45-member congresses and convention committee chaired by Ginger Onwusibe, with responsibilities to ensure a seamless process. Nenadi Usman urged members to use the postponement for thorough preparations. The party appealed for understanding and assured a new timetable will be communicated. This follows the party's earlier decision to zone its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria.
