Labour Party postpones congresses, national convention
The Labour Party has postponed its scheduled congresses and national convention from March 26 to April 11, 2026, to allow more time for membership re-registration. Originally planned as ward congresses on March 26, local government congresses on March 28, state congresses on March 31, and the national convention on April 11, the party cited the need for a seamless and credible process. A 45-member Congresses and Convention Committee, chaired by Ginger Onwusibe, has been formed to oversee preparations. National Chairman Senator Nenadi Usman urged members to ensure thorough preparations and appealed for understanding from members, INEC, and supporters. A new timetable will be communicated in due course.
