Lagos govt urges 2026 Hajj pilgrims to prioritize health
Lagos State Government has advised pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia to prioritize health and wellbeing before the major pilgrimage rites begin. Dr Abdullahi Jebe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, emphasized the importance of conserving energy, staying hydrated, and maintaining good health ahead of the physically demanding exercises.
The pilgrims recently toured historical Islamic sites in Makkah including Jabal Thawr, Jabal Nur, Mount Arafah, Mina, Muzdalifah, and the Jamarat area to understand their religious significance. The state government has secured Category A+ tents in Mina and Arafah to ensure comfort during the exercise.
Pilgrims will remain in Makkah until their scheduled movement to Mina on Sunday, May 24, 2026, corresponding to the 7th day of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, when the main Hajj rites will begin. Officials advised strict compliance with instructions and maintaining prayerfulness throughout the pilgrimage.
