Lagos labor leader dies at International Labour Conference

Domingo Michael Adeleke, Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council, has died in Geneva today after a brief illness. The 54-year-old labor leader was part of Nigeria's delegation to the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference when he fell ill and later passed away despite medical attention.

Adeleke served as Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council and was a member of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, where he was deeply involved in labor advocacy and workers' welfare initiatives. The Nigeria Labour Congress confirmed his death, describing him as 'a committed trade unionist dedicated to the welfare of workers.'

His death represents a significant loss to Nigeria's labor movement, particularly affecting workers in Lagos state where he led negotiations on their behalf. Throughout his career, Adeleke remained committed to promoting decent work and social justice for Nigerian workers.
