Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has responded to corruption allegations and defended his continued membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an interview with DCL Hausa on Saturday. Lamido attacked former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, recalling how Malami took him to court and accused him of being a thief. 'What he owns, I do not own. Do I have a hotel in Birnin Kudu or houses in Abuja?' Lamido questioned. He dismissed calls to leave the PDP, pointing out selective scrutiny. 'Many PDP members maintain relationships with politicians in other parties, especially the APC, and nobody questions them,' he said, citing former Kano State governor Ibrahim Shekarau's meetings with President Bola Tinubu as an example. Despite reaffirming his PDP membership, Lamido hinted at strategic alliances: 'I am still in the PDP, but if I see another party whose ideology aligns with mine, we can form an alliance and work together.' Addressing the decade-long EFCC corruption case, Lamido alleged it was politically motivated by former President Goodluck Jonathan to block his presidential ambition. 'It has been 10 years, and I am still in court. Jonathan started this allegation because he heard I wanted to contest,' he claimed. With the 2027 elections approaching, how do you see Lamido's continued influence in Nigerian politics?
