Activist lawyer Maduabuchi Idam accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of operating with mafia-style governance, alleging that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila colluded with external actors to create a fake agency called the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and a Presidential Economic Advisory Council. Idam said Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed to be the PFIPC director-general, is facing charges for conspiracy, forgery and impersonation after allegedly securing his appointment through Gbajabiamila for a fee of N600 million, with N400 million already paid via proxies and N200 million still outstanding. He claimed the phantom agency secured budgetary allocations in the 2026 federal budget and opened a domiciliary account, a pounds sterling account and a Treasury Single Account at the Central Bank of Nigeria, all without legislative authorization. Idam warned that if the allegations are true, the National Assembly leadership should resign for failing its constitutional oversight duty, warning that a rubber-stamp legislature threatens Nigeria's institutional integrity, constitutional democracy and the rule of law. The allegations were published in the Daily Post on July 4, 2026.
