Leverkusen boss Rolfes says Boniface will bounce back to top form
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said he is confident Victor Boniface will rediscover his best form after a disappointing loan spell at Werder Bremen. Rolfes noted the striker’s knee looks good but his weight remains a weak point that the club will work on. Boniface made only 11 appearances for Bremen in the 2025/26 season due to knee problems and did not trigger the option for a permanent move. He has now returned to Leverkusen and is expected to resume pre‑season training next week, with two years left on his current contract.
For Nigerian fans, Boniface’s form is directly tied to the Super Eagles’ attacking options ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and World Cup qualifiers. A fit and firing Boniface could provide a much‑needed goal threat for the national team, especially after his limited playing time last season.
Will Boniface’s return to top form at Leverkusen translate into regular starting spots and goals for the Super Eagles in the upcoming qualifiers?
