Lookman carries Nigerian hopes in Champions League quarter-finals
Ademola Lookman is now the only Nigerian player remaining in the UEFA Champions League after Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray were eliminated. Lookman played 64 minutes for Atlético Madrid in their second-leg defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, providing an assist as Atlético advanced on aggregate. The Super Eagles striker will now represent Nigeria in the quarter-finals against FC Barcelona. Three Nigerian players have previously won the Champions League: Finidi George and Nwankwo Kanu with Ajax (1994/95) and John Obi Mikel with Chelsea (2011/12). Lookman aims to join this exclusive list with Atlético Madrid.
