Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told state television on April 18 that Donald Trump's handling of the US-Iran crisis demonstrated America lacks true power despite being a superpower. Lukashenko stated: 'Trump showed the whole world that the United States of America is not all powerful. It is a superpower, but not a super force.' He argued that if the US couldn't manage Iran, it should avoid confronting China, warning 'They will never be able to deal with that kind of power.' Lukashenko added that Russia's vast territory makes missile strategies ineffective, noting 'The missiles will run out faster than the territory of Russia. Iran has shown this too.' The comments come amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran's nuclear program and regional influence. For Nigerians, this reflects shifting global power dynamics where perceived US weakness could impact trade relations—particularly with China, Nigeria's largest trading partner—and influence Abuja's foreign policy calculations amid growing Sino-African cooperation in infrastructure and technology sectors.
